PARMA, Ohio - High winds caused damage to a utility pole, knocking out power to some and closing a road in Parma Wednesday morning.
Representatives of the Illuminating Company said they are working on a damaged utility pole near 11757 W. Pleasant Valley Road
Parma police said the pole appeared to crack and catch fire as a result of the high winds.
They said residents may be experience power outages and W. Pleasant Valley Road is closed to traffic in both directions from Malibu to Ann Arbor. Police are at the scene redirecting traffic but drivers are asked to avoid the area.
Repairs are expected to take until at least noon.
