CLEVELAND - More than a hundred people braved the cold weather Saturday evening to remember Jennifer Zacarias, the John Marshall High School junior killed just outside of her home Friday. The vigil was at Zacarias home located at 3611 W.102nd Street in Cleveland .
Dozens of candles lit up the night sky. "She was always smiling, laughing," said Mikaylah Keres.
Cleveland Police have charged a 16-year-old arrested in connection with the murder of Jennifer Zacarias, 16.
"Bullets are small but their impact is huge," said Cleveland City Councilman Jay Westbrook.
Zacarias was gunned down in the backyard of her W.102nd Street home just after midnight on Friday, Feb. 8, 2013.
The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office says Zacarias was shot multiple times, suffering gunshot wounds to her head, neck and extremities.
The teen's father heard gunshots and ran upstairs to check on his teen daughter. She was nowhere to be found so he ran outside, locating her body in the their backyard.
Cleveland Police arrested a 16-year-old male late Friday afternoon in the 3400 block of W. 88th Street in connection with her death.
No official word yet on just how the suspect knew Zacarias, the investigation is ongoing.
