BROOKLYN, Ohio - Everyone was cleared out of the Walmart store on Brookpark Road in Brooklyn Wednesday evening, police said.
Walmart spokeswoman Dianna Gee said they started evacuating the store at 4:50 p.m. after managers were alerted to a threat. The store was given the all-clear from police and opened back up to the public at 6:15 p.m.
This comes just after bomb threats resulted in evacuations at 11 Walmart stores across the Midwest, ABC News reported on Monday. Eight stores in Missouri received threats, while three more in Kansas were also called.
According to ABC News, each time the caller said there were explosives on the property, but police searches uncovered nothing.
Police did not say if there is a connection with Wednesday’s incident and other Walmart evacuations.
Walmart released the following statement after the threat in Brooklyn:
"It's shameful there are people making these types of false threats. It is disrespectful to the communities our stores serve to have their law enforcement teams have to use their resources chasing a hoax. While it's important to note that, so far, nothing has come of any of these calls, we will continue to take them seriously to help ensure the safety of our customers and associates. We are providing information to help the authorities with their investigation and will continue work them to help them catch those responsible."
