Police look for man after girlfriend found stabbed to death in Garfield Heights

GARFIELD HEIGHTS, Ohio - Police in Garfield Heights are looking for the man they said stabbed his girlfriend to death on Grace Avenue. The search began yesterday and as of Tuesday morning police say the search continues.

Authorities said they were called to the home shortly before noon Monday, where a body was found near the back porch.

The 25-year-old woman's name is not being released.

Police are searching for Marlon Ricks, 41, who is considered armed and dangerous. Police believe Ricks is driving his slain girlfriend's SUV -- a maroon Chevy Trailblazer, license plate DFJ 4455.

According to the Ohio Department of Corrections, Ricks was released from prison in April 2011 where he served time for the 1990 murder of a Euclid man. Ricks was also convicted of aggravated burglary, kidnapping, and felonious assault.

Garfield Heights Police Chief Robert Sackett said he didn't know how long Ricks and the victim had been together or what kind of relationship they had.

"We don't have any previous calls here in that regard," he said.

Sackett said the victim, who lived in Oakwood Village, had been reported missing a few days earlier by her mother.
