STRONGSVILLE, Ohio - Only one eastbound lane of the Ohio Turnpike in Strongsville is open hours after a massive cargo truck fire.
The commercial truck hit a barrier wall and caught fire about noon Tuesday near mile marker 164.
Strongsville Department of Fire and Emergency Crews responded with help from Brecksville Fire Department, Broadview Heights Fire Department and North Royalton Fire Department. According to the Strongsville Department of Fire, the commercial truck was not carrying any hazardous materials.
The fire continued to burn until the diesel fuel from the truck could be extinguished. The fire was under control before 1 p.m.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol said the fire melted the pavement so repairs must be made before they can open the other lanes. The work may be done at about 10 p.m.
No injuries were reported.
