PARMA HEIGHTS, Ohio - Parma Heights residents will have an opportunity to get together with friends and meet new people in the community during Weekend in the Commons on August 4 and 5.

Food, music and fun are on the menu for those attending. All musical tastes will be satisfied when multiple bands hit the Gazebo stage throughout the weekend.

On Saturday, there will be a car show in front of Yorktown Lanes and an outdoor movie at N.E.O. soccer facility. On Sunday, the second annual Parma Heights 5K Run & Walk and Kids Dash will take place.

Parma Heights Fire Department will offer blood pressure checks, apparatus tours and balloons and coloring books for kids. Parma Heights police will have a SWAT tactical unit display and an educational 911 simulator.

The city pool will be open with a $1 donation requested with proceeds going to the Police & Firefighters 9/11 Memorial Fund.

"Parma Heights is, and has always been, a city with a small-town atmosphere," said Mayor Michael Byrne. "We wanted this year's celebration to feel like a block party with neighbors and friends getting to sit back, relax and enjoy each other's company."
