PARMA HEIGHTS, Ohio - Police in Parma Heights said a speeding driver is dead after blowing through several traffic lights, going airborne over railroad tracks and hitting a tree.
The crash happened just before 4:30 a.m. Sunday.
Parma Heights officers saw the whole incident as they chased the driver, Neil Guercia, 22, of Brook Park, who they said was traveling "at a high rate of speed" past W. 130th Street and into Brook Park.
Authorities said Guercia then drove over a set of railroad tracks, went airborne and hit a phone pole before striking a tree in the 14000 block of Holland Rd.
Guercia was taken to a nearby hospital where he later died, according to Brook Park police.
The wreck remains under investigation.
It is not yet clear if alcohol or drugs played a factor in the crash.
