CLEVELAND - Pit bull owners gathered in Cleveland and nine other cities around the United States to show support for pit bulls.

Chris Hughes of Rowdy to the Rescue organized todays peaceful demonstration.  He says people are misinformed when it comes to these dogs. There is more fear than fact.

Gremlin is a pit bull Hughes rescued and says you could not ask for a sweeter dog. Gremlin had some health issues but once healed , gremlin goes out and visits kids in the area.

Saturday's protest follows the approval this week in the Ohio Senate of a proposal which would change the definition of a vicious dog by removing the reference to pit bulls. The change would require evidence to prove pit bulls are actually vicious.

Currently state law defines a vicious dog as one that has seriously hurt or killed a person, killed another dog or is among those commonly known as pit bulls. The measure also specifies that the label does not include a police dog that has injured a person or has killed another dog while it's assisting law enforcement officials.
