GARFIELD HEIGHTS, Oh - The Strongsville Education Association asked the Strongsville School Board to meet Saturday afternoon to bargain as the teachers’ strike is about to enter its third week, but no bargaining was done today.
That’s because no school board members showed up at the Northeast Ohio Education Association Office in Garfield Heights.
School board president David Frazee said in a statement in response to the invitation earlier this week that the board of education “reiterates its commitment to have its negotiation team meet when the federal mediator calls a meeting."
Frazee says the school board’s negotiating team will attend a meeting called by the federal mediator at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
The Strongsville Education Association will also be there, but says it would like to see the school board there as well and not just the negotiating team or the superintendent so they can settle the strike.
