INDEPENDENCE, Ohio - The Autism Society of Greater Cleveland held their 7th annual chili cook-off at the Holiday Inn Rockside Tuesday evening.

Professional and amateur chefs from more than 30 area restaurants shared their best creations with about 500 people. Supporters got to satisfy their taste buds with chili recipes that ranged from savory to sweet to spicy.

NewsChannel 5 Sports Director Andy Baskin, an admitted food lover, served as a celebrity judge. Andy said his only criterion is it has to taste good.

Autism is the fastest growing epidemic in America according to the Center for Disease Control. They released a report just last week estimating that one in every 88 children in the United States has autism.

This is up significantly from just a decade ago when the rate was one in 10,000. For more information on autism see the Autism Society of Greater Cleveland website at http ://www.asgc.org/ .
