MAPLE HEIGHTS, Ohio - Police are looking for the man they say is responsible for a statewide Amber Alert on Sunday.

At about 8:30 p.m. Sunday, Maple Heights police were called to a domestic dispute on Stafford Avenue. The female victim told officers that the father of her child assaulted her and took their 8-month-old son.

Maple Heights police searched the area with a police K-9 unit, but the suspect, 28-year-old Darrell A. Spencer, couldn’t be found.

The Amber Alert was canceled at about 11:25 p.m. Sunday when Spencer dropped the baby off with a neighbor, police said. The child was unharmed.

Spencer is wanted for domestic violence. According to police he is about 5 foot 6 and weighs 160 pounds. He has a history of violent crime, including assault and domestic violence. According to the Amber Alert statement, Spencer set fire to the woman's car and threatened to kill the whole family.

Anyone with information should contact the Maple Heights Police Department at 216-662-1234.
