LAKEWOOD, Ohio - What began as a domestic dispute in Lakewood turned into a high-speed chase and ended with the suspect dead.
Police in Lakewood said the chase suspect, Dana Barnes, 31, died from injuries suffered when he crashed his vehicle during the chase.
Authorities in Lakewood got a all from a woman earlier this week reporting Barnes had assaulted his girlfriend and the caller at a home in the 18000 block of Detroit Avenue. The caller said Barnes then took off in a silver Oldsmobile Cutlass.
Shortly after the call, police spotted the car eastbound on Clifton and Nicholson swerving, almost striking several parked cars.
Officers turned their lights on and tried pulling Barnes over, but he refused to stop, taking police on a high-speed chase down Clifton.
Eventually, Barnes went off the road and hit a home in the 9000 block of Clifton. He was taken to an area hospital where he later died.
