CLEVELAND - A ruling Wednesday will require Bobby Thompson to provide a DNA sample, handwriting and palm prints to the court to aid in identifying the man accused of running a national veterans charity scam.
Authorities said they believe Thompson used many false identities to evade authorities after he was indicted for scamming donors out of nearly $2 million in Ohio and more than $100 million nationwide.
Thompson also had his motion to dismiss all charges denied by Judge Annette Butler, who set a trial date of March 11, 2013, after defense attorney Joseph Patituce said he could not be ready for trial in 2012.
Federal district attorneys were also in court watching the hearing. It is believed that the man known as Bobby Thompson will be indicted by federal authorities in Tampa, Florida for his role in running the alleged scam in more than 40 states.
