LAKEWOOD, Ohio - Lakewood is celebrating Halloween early with its annual "Spooky Pooch" parade on Saturday, Oct. 20.
The parade will step off at Detroit and St. Charles avenues at 2 p.m. Hundreds of costumed canines and their owners will walk to Lakewood Public Library and back.
There will be prizes for the best-costumed dogs. Judges will select the Spookiest Pooch, most creative dog and child, most original adult and dog, best dog and group and best non-motorized float.
It’s not just a parade, either. Dozens of vendors will line St. Charles Avenue at the St. Charles Green and activities all afternoon.
The festival is free while the parade registration fee is $10 (pre-register) or $15 day-of. The deadline to register online is Friday, Oct. 19. Visit spookypoochparade.com for more information.
Proceeds benefit the downtown Lakewood revitalization and the Lakewood animal shelter.
