SAN JOSE, Calif. - Moving up in the skating ranks is tough, but Northeast Ohio native Troy Tomasello skated his way all the way to the U.S. Figure Skating Championships for the third year in a row.
This year was the first season that Tomasello, 17, skated in the Junior division, which is just one step from the sports highest division (Senior).
Tomasello placed 7th in the short program on Sunday and 8th in the long program on Tuesday night for an overall 8th place finish and a total score of 147.36--more than 30 points improved from his total score last season when he finished 8th in the Novice division.
Tomasello, a senior at Normandy High School in Parma, trains at the Strongsville Skating club at Ice Land USA with coach Glynn Watts.
