CLEVELAND - Cuyahoga Community College will offer a free personal income tax filing service for those who meet eligibility requirements with an earned 2012 income of less than $60,000. The services will be offered at four campuses.
Walk-in help on a first-come, first-served basis is available as follows:
- Metropolitan Campus, 2900 Community College Ave. in Cleveland on Saturdays, Feb. 2 through March 30 (except for March 16), from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. in the Technology Learning Center, Room 155.
- Western Campus, 11000 Pleasant Valley Rd. in Parma from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays beginning Feb. 1 and 2 through April 5 and 6 in Room WSS G280. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m.
- Corporate College West, 25425 Center Ridge Rd. in Westlake from 4:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. Thursdays, Feb. 7 through April 4 (except for March 14) in Room 214.
A scheduled appointment is available as follows:
- Eastern Campus, 4250 Richmond Rd. in Highland Hills from Feb. 4 through April 4 by appointment only. For the Eastern Campus, contact Jin Chen at 216-987-2402.
Returns will be prepared and filed by IRS-certified tax preparers and completed while the taxpayer waits. All returns will be screened for eligibility for the Earned Income Tax Credit and the Child Tax Credit. To qualify, taxpayers must have a 2012 earned income of less than $60,000 and must be filing a simple return.
Services may be available at some locations for Schedule D, 1099-C, 1099-A, and 982 as well as self-employed individuals whose business is a sole proprietorship or qualified joint venture or who are statutory employees of a business with less than $5,000 in business expenses, no employees and no inventory.
Taxpayers need to bring a current photo ID, Social Security card for each adult and child on the return, prior year tax returns, W2 and 1099 income statements, child care expense statement and provider’s Tax ID number, form 1099-INT for any checking or savings accounts as well as bank account and routing numbers for direct deposit of refund. Those filing jointly must both be present if e-filing.
