Final fundraiser Thursday for Cracker Barrel shooting victim Kayla Allen

CLEVELAND - Family members of 10-year-old Kayla Allen, who died Tuesday from the April 12 shooting by her father at the Brooklyn Cracker Barrel, said one final fundraiser will be held for her Thursday night.

Barbarino's Family Restaurant on Sprague Road in Columbia Station will host the last fundraising event Thursday night for the Kayla Allen Benefit Fund.

From 7 p.m. to 11 p.m., you can buy a ticket for $24.99 that includes pizza, wings, pasta and salad, plus live entertainment. Drinks will also be served at Happy Hour prices.

"Hearing Tony Koussa play the saxophone will be worth the price of admission," Kayla's uncle wrote on her memorial Facebook page.

Also on the page, family members thanked the many people who have showed their love and support for them during this most difficult time.

"I would like to personally thank all 3,887 of you who have 'liked' this page and followed Kayla's updates on daily basis. I have received so many wonderful thank you's and prayers. All of you need to know that that support made such a difference in mine and my wife Lynne's life for the last month."

Since the 7 a.m. post Wednesday, the page has gained about 50 new "likes." Kayla's uncle said maintaining the Facebook page has been therapeutic for him.

"It, along with my faith in God, is the reason I made it through this tragedy."

He asked people continue to 'like' the page and look for updates on a new foundation announcement.

"In the next few days, we will be putting together a foundation to raise awareness and money for victims of Domestic Violence. Thank you again and may God bless all of you."

An update was posted around 12:30 p.m. to the Facebook page that another fundraiser, in addition to Barbarino's, will still be held.

"In light of Kayla's passing, Applebee's still wants to hold their fundraising event on (May 21). Applebee's has suggested that the funds raised could go to a local shelter(s), which I thought was a great idea."

Some of the funds raised could support the Berea Animal Rescue, in the girls' names, where many Allen pets were taken following the tragic shooting. Or, the money could be given to a local victims of domestic abuse shelter.

"We will work out the details of where the money will go and will post the decisions soon," said Kayla's uncle.

In the meantime, the Applebee's fundraiser will be held on May 21 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Strongsville and Westgate Plaza locations. You can download a flyer by following this link, http://on.wews.com/K5VTZq.

Police said Kayla’s father, Kevin Allen, 51, opened fire inside the restaurant on April 12, killing her mom, Kate, 42, and sister, Kerri, 10, on Kerri's birthday. Officers shot and killed Kevin as he was leaving the restaurant when he didn't comply with orders to surrender.
