NORTH OLMSTED, Ohio - Authorities in North Olmsted have identified the driver killed in a single-car crash Sunday morning around 8:35 on Bradley Road near the North Ridgeville city line.
Police said Danielle Fink, assignment editor at Channel 3 News, crashed into a tree and was pronounced dead when authorities arrived.
Channel 3 News noted the tragedy on its website Sunday afternoon, saying they grieve with her family.
Several NewsChannel5 employees knew Danielle well and spoke extremely highly of her, as she worked here from 1987-1991.
Photojournalist Tom Livingston said Danielle was the "hugest Cleveland Indians fan.
"Her family had season seats for as along as I can remember. Danielle had a heart as big as the world. We swore she owned a greeting card company because not a birthday or anniversary went by without getting a card from Dani."
Danielle was an avid church-goer, singing in the choir at Our Lady of Peace. Her church friends said she was "a talented vocalist."
NewsChannel5 sports director Andy Baskin said Danielle always had a warm smile to greet you. "Her passion for Cleveland sports teams was always uplifting, especially the Indians. Danielle was amazing when it came to caring for her mother in her later years. She was selfless and good-hearted."
Mike Harris, our chief photographer, worked with Danielle over 8 years. He called his friend a "treasure" and said "if you knew her, you'd never forget her."
Danielle's family is planning funeral arrangements. Our thoughts and prayers are with them during this difficult time.
Meanwhile, the cause of the crash is unknown and remains under investigation.
