CLEVELAND - DNA evidence helped police make an arrest in connection with the stabbing death of a Parma man last weekend.
The Parma Police Department said on Friday a 33-year-old man from Parma is in custody for the murder of 52-year-old Gerald Bajorek at his Broadview Road apartment last Saturday.
Investigators said the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Identification matched DNA from the scene to the man who was arrested.
A man called 911 to report that his best friend was lying in a pool of blood. He had gone to the apartment to check on Bajorek after he didn’t answer his phone all day. He told the dispatcher the windows of the apartment were busted.
The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office said Bajorek had been stabbed multiple times.
Police were working to figure out what type of weapon was used in the crime.
Parma police said the suspect’s name is not being released until he’s charged, which is expected to happen Monday.
