CLEVELAND - The man in the newly created position of Cuyahoga County Executive is considering a run for governor.
Voters elected Ed FitzGerald to run the new form of county government, and now he's having conversations with people all over Ohio about a potential run on the Democratic ticket against Governor John Kasich.
When asked about FitzGerald's future plans, Chief of Staff Matt Carroll, issued a one-sentence statement to NewsChannel 5.
"Regarding running for Governor, Ed has had conversations with people from various parts of the state, and he will be making a decision in early 2013," Carroll wrote.
Carroll did not comment on reports about state GOP leaders asking for public records involving FitzGerald, including his phone log and his calendar.
Some people might infer such a request may mean GOP leaders could be sizing up potential adversaries, such as the Democrat from Lakewood.
