CLEVELAND - The condition of the girl who survived a shooting in which police said her dad killed her mom and sister at the Brooklyn Cracker Barrel has taken a turn for the worse.
Kayla Allen, 10, is back in critical condition at MetroHealth Medical Center, according to a hospital spokeswoman.
She had actually improved twice, going from initially critical to serious on April 22, and then serious to fair Wednesday. But her condition was downgraded two levels Thursday.
Police said Kayla’s father, 51-year-old Kevin Allen, opened fire in the restaurant April 12, killing 42-year-old Kate Allen and their daughter 10-year-old Kerri Allen.
Officers then shot and killed Kevin Allen as he was exiting the restaurant, after they said he did not comply with their orders to surrender.
Kayla was the only surviving victim of the shooting.
No one else at the Cracker Barrel was injured in the shooting. The restaurant was closed for nearly two weeks after the incident, but reopened Tuesday morning.
