CLEVELAND - Cleveland is the nation’s ninth most dangerous city, according to Forbes Magazine's latest list.
Cleveland came in at No. 9 on the list of the country’s most dangerous cities.
According to Forbes, Cleveland’s violent crime rate was 1,363 per 100,000 residents.
The magazine cited the city’s “economic decline, location on prime interstate drug routes and large population of poor residents” as reasons for making the list.
It also said Cleveland’s violent crime rate “barely budged” last year. The magazine did state some good news, though, saying that murders fells by 27 percent.
Detroit topped the list for the fourth year in a row. It is followed by Saint Louis, Oakland, Calif., Memphis, Tenn., and Birmingham, Ala.
The magazine looked over the FBI's Uniform Crime Reports for 2011, and only included cities with populations over 200,000.
Atlanta, Baltimore, Stockton, Calif., and Buffalo, N.Y., join Cleveland to round out the top 10.
