CLEVELAND - A local restaurant is helping the young girl who survived a shooting in which her father shot and killed her mother and sister at a Brooklyn restaurant.
Bob Evans designated Thursday, May 10, as Kayla Allen Day.
The 10-year-old girl survived the deadly shooting last month at the Cracker Barrel on Tiedeman Road. Police said 51-year-old Kevin Allen opened fire inside the restaurant, killing 42-year-old Kate Allen and 10-year-old Kerri Allen.
Officers then shot and killed Kevin Allen as he was exiting the restaurant, after they said he did not comply with their orders to surrender.
Kayla’s condition has since fluctuated from critical to fair, and she currently remains hospitalized in serious condition.
Bob Evans said it wants to raise money to help with Kayla’s recovery. So, 10 participating restaurants in the region will donate 15 percent of customers’ bills to the Kayla Allen Benefit Fund.
Here is a list of participating restaurants and a link to a flyer with more information:
