MAPLE HEIGHTS, Ohio - A statewide Amber Alert has been canceled for an 8-month-old Maple Heights boy and his father.

As of 12:09 a.m. Monday morning, law enforcement officials said the child had been located.

Maple Heights police tell NewsChannel5 that the suspect dropped the 8-month-old off at a neighbor's house. 28-year-old Darrell Spencer, who police said they believe took his son, remains on the loose.

Spencer is described as a black male with black hair and brown eyes, 5 feet 6 inches and weighs about 160 pounds. He was last seen wearing only jeans.

It is believed Spencer took his 8-month-old son, Darrell Spencer Jr., described as a black male, 2 feet tall weighing 17 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.

Spencer was last seen leaving a residence in the 1900 block of Stafford Avenue on foot around 9:41 p.m., threatening to leave the state by public transportation such as Greyhound or RTA.

Spencer has a violent criminal history including domestic violence and assault. Before leaving on foot, he set fire to the mother's vehicle and threatened to kill the family.

Anyone with information related to the incident is asked to call the Maple Heights Police department at 216-662-1234 or 911.
