BEREA, Ohio - An accident in the eastbound lanes of the Ohio Turnpike Sunday morning has left one person dead.
The Berea post of the State Highway Patrol said James Knutti Jr., 34, of Bellevue, was riding his motorcycle along the toll road when he hit a deer, throwing him from the Harley-Davidson near mile marker 158. Knutti Jr. was then struck by an oncoming SUV.
Knutti was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the SUV and his wife were not injured.
One lane of I-80 eastbound in Berea was closed while crews worked to clear the scene. That lane has since reopened.
