ROCKY RIVER, Oh - A car is at the bottom of the Rocky River Sunday afternoon after a man claims he accidentally left it in gear.
Captain Jack Hall of the Metroparks Rangers said the man's car was near the Rocky River Marina boat ramp when it drove into the river just before 3pm. The man was not in the car at the time.
The Metroparks Rangers, Rocky River Police Department and Lakewood Fire Department responded to the scene. The car traveled approximately 300 yards north of the boat ramp before it was submerged. Once it was determined that no one was in the car, rescue operations were suspended.
Captain Hall said there are no attempts to salvage the car at this time because the water is too high and moving too quickly.
