NORTH OLMSTED, Ohio - 5:15 p.m. update: Columbia Road is back open and the break is fixed, John Goersmeyer with the Cleveland Water Department said.
A 12-inch water main break has closed Columbia Road south of Lorain Road in North Olmsted.
Water was gushing from under the southbound lane of Columbia Road and created a large hole in the roadway.
The Cleveland Water Department is at the scene working on repairs. They said the water will be off until the afternoon and they are unsure of the number of customers affected.
The road will remain closed between Lorain Road and Palm Drive until repairs are completed, according to North Olmsted police and the water department.
