Road closures, bus reroutes and traffic delays as President Barack Obama visits Cleveland State

CLEVELAND - If you plan to drive in Cleveland Friday, expect road closures and traffic delays.

President Obama is making a campaign stop to Cleveland State University. Cleveland Police said between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m., the following streets will be closed:
 
- East 18th between Chester Ave. and Rockwell Ave.
- Payne Ave. between East 18th and East 24th St.
- Chester Ave. from East 18th and East 24th St.
- East 21st between Chester Ave. and Payne Ave.

Friday, the following RTA bus reroutes will be in effect:

#38: Hough
Westbound: Regular route to Payne and E 21, right on E 21, left on Superior, continue Superior past E 13 returning to regular route.
Eastbound: Regular route to Superior and E 13, continue Superior to E 21, right on E 21, left on Payne returning to regular route.

#51: Pearl
#135: Broadview - North Royalton
#251: Strongsville Park-N-Ride
#451: Strongsville Park-N-Ride - Brunswick
Northbound: Regular route to Chester and E 17, right on E 17, left on Prospect, right on E 21 returning to regular route.
Southbound: Regular route to E 22 and Prospect, left on Prospect, right on E 17, left on Chester returning to regular route.

#55: Clifton
#55F: West Shore Flyer
Eastbound: Regular route to Chester and E 17, right on E 17, left on Prospect, right on E 21 returning to regular route.
Westbound: Regular route to E 22 and Prospect, left on Prospect, right on E 17, left on Chester returning to regular route.

#246: Westlake Park-N-Ride
#263: North Olmsted Park-N-Ride
Eastbound: Regular route to Chester and E 17, right on E 17, left on Prospect, right on E 21 returning to regular route.
Westbound: Regular route to E 22 and Prospect, left on Prospect, right on E 17, left on Chester returning to regular route.

Police said on Friday to expect delays on the Interstate between 12 p.m. and 6 p.m.

Cleveland Traffic Commissioner James Muhic warned the motorcade could affect late afternoon traffic.

"Rush hour traffic for I-90 westbound and 71 southbound, I would recommend that people avoid that area."

The president will be speaking outdoors at Cleveland State University's Krenzler Field.
 
University officials said this will mark Obama's fourth visit to CSU.
