CLEVELAND - The frenzy over Friday's record Mega Millions drawing added $9.6 million to the Ohio Lottery Profits Education Fund, according to Marie Kilbane, a public information officer for the Ohio Lottery.
Kilbane said Ohio had $25 million in sales for the Mega Millions drawing just last week, which is the best ever for the state.
In Ohio, 100 percent of the Mega Million profits goes into the Lottery Profits Education Fund, which is 28 percent of each dollar spent, according to Kilbane.
She added that 62 percent of each dollar goes toward the prizes, which leaves 6 percent for the retailers and 4 percent for lottery operations.
