CLEVELAND - Two women from northeast Ohio were killed Saturday morning after a wreck in Walton County, Florida that left seven others injured, two critically.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol and ABC affiliate WMBB, troopers responded to the scene of State Road 20, three miles east of County Road 3280, at 11:17 a.m.
The FHP said a 2000 Dodge was eastbound on SR 20 when it drifted across the center line. The driver, Brittney Gallagher, of Willoughby, veered "aggressively" back into her lane and the car began spinning, the FHP reported.
FHP said Gallagher's car again crossed the center line and was struck by a westbound pickup truck.
Gallagher, 21, and passenger Courtney Miller, 21, of Niles, were pronounced dead at the scene.
Two other passengers in Gallagher's car were critically injured, Diana Mitchell, 22, of Solon, and Lauren Kane, 22, of Willoughby.
Walton County Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Bill May said that the women's car was full of spring break visitors returning to Ohio.
Five people in the pickup, all from Oklahoma, were also hurt.
Authorities do not believe alcohol was a factor in the deadly wreck.
According to WJHG-TV in Panama City, Gallagher and her passengers were all Ohio State students.
