GARFIELD HEIGHTS, Ohio - The 15-year-old who was shot in the head in Garfield Heights Tuesday night has died.
Garfield Heights Police Chief Robert Sackett said the teen passed away, but he did not release his name.
The shooting happened on South Parkway Drive near East 131st just after 8 p.m.
According to Garfield Heights police, the teen and a 20-year-old were walking down the street, when a car pulled up. Police said an unknown amount of people got out the vehicle and fired three to six rounds.
The 15-year-old was shot in the head twice, but the 20-year-old was able to run away. The teen was airlifted to MetroHealth Medical Center, but was later pronounced dead.
Sackett said his detectives are working on a few leads.
"Probably one of the first steps is to determine if this was a random act of violence or a targeted act,” Sackett said.
Neighbor Latoya Glenn called police when she heard the loud noise.
"When I looked outside I saw a girl walking back and forth and a guy lying on the grass,” she said.
