PIERPONT, Ohio - Two cousins are dead after a single-vehicle crash in Ashtabula County Thursday morning where authorities suspect alcohol as the cause.
The crash happened around 1 a.m. at Hammond Corners Road and Middle Road in Pierpont, according the Ashtabula Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Authorities said driver Daniel R. Miller, 19, drive off the road and onto a driveway before hitting a ditch and tree in his Jeep.
Miller, 21, and his passenger cousin Katie Miller, 20, both died from injuries sustained in the wreck.
Authorities suspect drunken driving is to blame.
Middle Road was closed as a result of the crash.
The investigation continues.
