HARPERSFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio - The Ashtabula Post of the Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash in Harpersfield Township.
Troopers say the accident happened around 2:20 a.m. on Interstate 90 just east of Milepost #215.
Preliminary investigation shows a 2002 Chevrolet Blazer driven by Charles R. Barger, 41 years old, of Ashtabula, Ohio, was traveling westbound on Interstate 90 and traveled off of the left side of the roadway. Unit 1 struck a traffic sign post, the median barrier and began to overturn and came to final rest on it's tires. Barger was ejected from the vehicle.
Barger was transported to Geneva Medical Center where he later died from his injuries. Barger was not wearing a seatbelt and it is unknown if alcohol is a factor.
The crash remains under investigation.
