GENEVA, Ohio - A man was struck and killed by a CSX train Sunday morning.
The victim is a 58-year-old Hispanic man from Geneva Township, according to the Ashtabula County Medical Examiner's Office.
Investigators said the victim was struck by a CSX train on an overpass near Route 20 at around 11:47 a.m. Sunday.
Investigators said it appears that the victim had trespassed onto private property and was sitting on the tracks when a train was coming. He attempted to get out of the way but apparently fell back and was struck, investigators said.
He died at the scene and his name will not be released until his family is notified.
Investigators said it is suspected that the victim had been drinking before the fatal accident.
The incident is under investigation.
