AUSTINBURG TOWNSHIP, Ohio - One man is dead after a snowmobile crash in Ashtabula County Tuesday night.

Troopers said they responded to a crash on Woodside Drive, just East of Windsor Mechanicsville Road in Austinburg Township at about 10 p.m.

The victim, who has been identified as 48-year-old Steven Pawlowski, of Rome, Ohio, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities said the snowmobile ran off the right side of the road, striking a ditch and then a tree, where Pawlowski, who troopers said was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, was ejected from the vehicle.

Police said they believe alcohol may have been a factor but the crash is still under investigation.
