ASHTABULA, Ohio - A threat that affected a chain of movie theaters across the country, including one in Ashtabula, has been resolved.
Carmike Cinemas released a statement Thursday saying investigators have found the person behind the threat.
" The FBI has identified the person responsible for the bomb threats that occurred last Friday, August 17, 2012 involving Carmike Cinemas and believes he is no longer a threat," said the company in a media statement.
No other information was released, including whether an arrest was made or if any charges are pending.
The threat frustrated movie-goers at the location in Ashtabula when it happened Aug. 18.
On that day, the Ashtabula County Sheriff's Office said the threat was believed to have come from a disgruntled employee of a company contracted by Carmike to clean its theaters, but the Ashtabula location does not use the same company.
Regardless, investigators checked out the theater and mall and found nothing dangerous. The theater ran as normal that day.
