ASHTABULA, Ohio - A car slammed into a house in Ashtabula Friday morning and ended up partially in the basement.
Ashtabula police said the car went into the front corner of the house at about 6:35 a.m. on East 45th Street. The car drove under the porch, nearly collapsing the roof.
The homeowner was not injured and the driver was checked out at a local hospital, police said.
The Ashtabula Police Department said the driver may have drifted off to sleep, causing the crash.
The incident is still under investigation and charges are pending. Police said alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
