GENEVA-ON-THE-LAKE, Ohio - An Ashtabula County woman is now the mother of a healthy baby girl after a surprise delivery on Sunday morning.
Geneva-on-the-Lake police posted to the department’s Facebook page that around 10 a.m. on July 29, Officers Sandra Davis and Robert Mack were called to a home on Kathryn Drive for a woman experiencing abdominal pain.
Arriving before paramedics, the officers met with the caller and learned she was unsure if she was pregnant but believed she was going into labor. According to Geneva-on-the-Lake police, the woman then went into active labor and began delivering a baby.
Officers Davis and Mack assisted the woman by rendering care for the newborn baby and the mother until EMS units arrived.
Officers said both the mother and 6-pound baby girl are healthy and safe.
