CLEVELAND - Authorities in North Carolina have issued an arrest warrant for the ex-boyfriend of the Ashland mother of two found dead on Monday.
Lynn Jackenheimer, 33, went on vacation over the Fourth of July with Nathan Summerfield, their 3-year-old son and Jackenheimer’s 13-year-old daughter to the Outer Banks in N.C. Now, Summerfield is wanted for murder.
“The defendant named above ( Summerfield) unlawfully, willfully and feloniously did of malice aforethought fill and murder Lynn A. Jackenheimer,” the warrant said.
A construction worker found remains in a trash bag on July 14 in Frisco, N.C. and called police. The Dare County Sheriff's Office confirmed the body was Jackenheimer's minutes before 5 p.m. Monday.
"He treated her like a bag of garbage where he threw her and it wasn't right," said Jackenheimer's step-father, Raymond Johnson. "And I can't wait till they catch you, Nate, because that's the same treatment that you need. The same you did to my daughter Nate is coming back at you."
"When you're in court. I'll laugh... You big coward," Johnson said. "You can't go to court. That's the man's way, huh?"
Summerfield, 27, was last seen when he dropped off the children with a family member on July 8. When he left, his brother called police.
"I want to report a possible murder," Jake Summerfield told Ashland County dispatchers. "My brother was in North Carolina with his ex-girlfriend. He came back and said he strangled her and dropped his kid off and left."
Police said they believe Summerfield is driving a silver Honda Civic with Ohio license plate FMV 7540.
"This case remains an active investigation and information is limited to what has been provided," said Dare County Sheriff's Captain W. Charles Nieman.
A news conference is scheduled for Tuesday afternoon in North Carolina.
