US Marshals now involved with search for accused killer Nate Summerfield

CLEVELAND - U.S. Marshals have joined the search for Nate Summerfield, the man wanted in connection to the murder of Ashland mom Lynn Jackenheimer.

All of Summerfield's information has also been entered into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC), a computerized index that allows law enforcement across the country to access the 27-year-old's information.

So far, authorities in Ashland have stalled on leads to where Summerfield may be. Police said he disappeared from Ashland after returning home from a vacation to the Outer Banks in North Carolina with Jackenheimer.

Summerfield is the estranged boyfriend of the mother of two, whose body was found in a trash bag by a construction worker July 14 in Frisco, N.C.

"He (Nate Summerfield) dumped a bag of fertilizer on her (Lynn) to cover up the smell," Jackenheimer's father Raymond Johnson said.

Jackenheimer's family joined law enforcement in N.C. to search for their loved one. They have since returned home to Ashland, exhausted, but hopeful that Summerfield will be found soon.

The medical examiner confirmed July 16 that the body found by the worker over the weekend was Jackenheimer.

According to authorities, Summerfield returned to Ashland after the trip, dropped off the two children at a family friends house, withdrew money from an ATM and called his brother, telling him he strangled Jackenheimer to death. He might be driving a silver Honda Civic with Ohio license plate FMV 7540.

Summerfield hasn't been seen or heard from since July 8. There's also been no activity on his Facebook page since July 2, when a photo was posted of him being buried in the sand by his 3-year-old son and Jackenheimer's 13-year-old daughter at the beach.

Wanted signs to find Nate Summerfield are posted throughout the Ashland area and beyond. A Facebook page has also been created to help find the accused killer.

Meanwhile, residents in Ashland are making "Justice for Lynn" T-shirts and businesses are continuing to raise money to give to Jackenheimer's children. A funeral home has also offered to donate services to Jackenheimer's family.
