ASHLAND, Ohio - The man accused of killing an Ashland mother of two and leaving her remains in the Outer Banks has been indicted.

A Dare County, North Carolina jury indicted Nate Summerfield on Monday for first-degree murder in the death of Lynn Jackenheimer, the sheriff’s office said.

Summerfield was arrested at a Wadsworth hotel on Aug. 15 after about a month on the run. He was extradited back to North Carolina just days after.

Jackenheimer, 33, went on vacation with her two children and Summerfield, her ex-boyfriend, over the Fourth of July holiday to Nags Head, N.C. Summerfield returned from the trip and dropped off their 3-year-old son and Jackenheimer’s 13-year-old daughter with a family friend.

While police searched for Summerfield, Jackenheimer’s family traveled to North Carolina to search for Jackenheimer. On July 14, a construction worker found Jackenheimer’s body in a bag about 30 minutes from where she was last seen.

No future court dates for Summerfield have been set, the Dare County Sheriff’s Office said.
