ASHLAND, Ohio - Tears filled Lora Johnson's eyes as she talked about her missing daughter Lynn Jackenheimer.
"I don't know if I can go on not knowing where she is at."
Johnson's 33-year-old daughter was last heard from one week ago before she left on vacation with her ex-boyfriend, 27-year-old Nate Summerfield.
Jackenheimer and Summerfield's 3-year-old son, along with Jackenheimer's 13-year-old daughter, who has autism, went to Nags Head, North Carolina last week on vacation. Summerfield and the kids returned to Ashland County on Sunday, but Jackenheimer never did.
On Wednesday morning, a dispatcher with the Ashland County Sheriff's Department said there were no changes in the investigation.
Police and the FBI got involved after Summerfield's brother called 911, to give dispatchers a disturbing message.
"My brother was in North Carolina with his ex-girlfriend. He came back and said he strangled her and dropped his kid off and left."Ashland County police have interviewed the two children.
"They were basically kept in the dark," said Ashland County Sheriff's captain Carl Richert. He said the children did not hear or see anything.
But police did find Summerfield's cellphone on the side of an Ashland road. They also have Jackenheimer's cellphone, but aren't saying where it was found.
Authorities continue to look for Summerfield's dark gray/metallic 2009 Honda Civic. Summerfield was last seen in it on Sunday withdrawing money from a local ATM.
All of the detectives in the Ashland County Sheriff's Department are working on this case, as well as all detectives in the Ashland Police Department.
Police in North Carolina said they continue to search for any clues that might help find the 33-year-old mother.
"We looked in the house Sunday and we looked again yesterday," Dare County Chief Deputy Steve Hoggard said. "We had canines search the neighborhood and empty lots."
Jackenheimer's two kids are staying with her mother and stepfather.
"If anybody knows anything, please try to understand from a mother to a father to a mother, we need answers," begged Johnson.
If you know anything about this case, you're urged to contact the Ashland County Sheriff's Department at 419-289-3911. Callers can remain anonymous. Money raised from friends and businesses has now raised the reward for information leading to Jackenheimer to $7,000.
