ASHLAND, Ohio - More than 100 people gathered outside an Ashland pizza place, pleading for the safe return of a missing mother of two.
Lynn Jackenheimer, 33, went on vacation in Nags Head, N.C. with her ex-boyfriend and her two children last week, the Ashland County Sheriff’s Office said. On Sunday, Jackenheimer’s ex, 27-year-old Nathan Summerfield, returned from North Carolina and dropped her two children off with his family.
"I want to report a possible murder," Jake Summerfield, Nathan’s brother, told 911 dispatchers on Sunday. "My brother was in North Carolina with his ex-girlfriend. He came back and said he strangled her and dropped his kid off and left." The children are ages 3 and 13.
Jackenhiemer was supposed to come into work at Goodfellows Pizzaria and Pub on Claremont Avenue in Ashland on Sunday, but she never arrived. That’s where her family, friends and coworkers held a vigil Monday night.
“We love you. We miss you. We’re with you,” Jackenheimer’s brother said. “Just bring her body home.”
“Find it in your heart, for your son. Just to have their mother back. Just where she’s at. That’s all we ask,” Jackenhiemer’s sister Tasha Johnson said in her plea to Summerfield.
Many still hold out hope that she will return to them. Heather Lewis, a friend of Jackenheimer’s, said Lynn is very resourceful and if anyone could get home, it’s her.
“I can’t sit at home and just cry. I have to get out there and do something. And I know Lynn, she’s a very strong-willed girl and she will not back down,” Lewis said.
Summerfield is considered a person of interest and authorities are looking for a silver Honda Civic with the license plate FMV 7540.
Anyone with information about Jackenheimer’s disappearance should call the Ashland County Sheriff’s Department at 419-289-3911. There is a reward of $4,000 being offered for information on Jackenheimer’s whereabouts.
