ASHLAND, Ohio - With tear-filled eyes and heavy hearts, family and friends said goodbye to Lynn Jackenheimer. The 33-year-old Ashland mother of two was murdered in North Carolina, her body found by a construction worker in Frisco on July 14.

Dozens attended the public wake inside Wappner Funeral Directors and described a beautiful white coffin with a letter from Jackenheimer sharing her love for her children.

Some family members were wearing purple, while others were wearing white "Justice for Lynn" T-shirts.

Two women from the community waited outside, holding a "Justice for Lynn" poster. They told our crews they didn't want to disturb the family by going inside.

Friends of Jackenheimer were also passing out flyers of a petition started on change.org for stricter legislation against domestic violence.

Jackenheimer disappeared over the July Fourth weekend while vacationing in the Outer Banks of North Carolina with estranged boyfriend Nate Summerfield. The 27-year-old Summerfield is accused of stabbing and strangling Jackenheimer to death before dumping her body 30 minutes from their beach cottage rental site.

An intense manhunt is on to find Summerfield, who police said came back home from the trip and dropped off his 3-year-old son and Jackenheimer's 13-year-old daughter, who has autism, at a family friend's house on July 8. He then reportedly withdrew cash from an Ashland ATM and took off in a gray Honda Civic with Ohio license plate FMV 7540. Authorities said Summerfield confessed to his brother that he killed Jackenheimer shortly before he disappeared.

The FBI and U.S. Marshals are following leads on his whereabouts and Summerfield's information is also posted on America's Most Wanted site.

Meanwhile, Jackenheimer's obituary said the loving mother worked three jobs at Goodfellows, The Beer Barrel, and Riley’s to be able to give more for her children. She was also a volunteer at Catholic Charities and was an advocate for teaching children about autism awareness.

Traveling to the ocean and admiring lighthouses were some of Jackenheimer's favorite things to see and do. She also enjoyed cooking, going horseback riding, and shopping. Above all else, Jackenheimer loved to spend time with her kids and family.

Funeral services will be held July 23 at 11 a.m. at Grace Brethren Church, 1144 W. Main St. in Ashland. Jackenheimer will be laid to rest in Ashland Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to benefit Jackenheimer's children at any Chase Bank.
