COLUMBUS, Ohio - Police in Columbus said they've been getting tips all morning long that accused murderer Nate Summerfield is in the area.

According to our news partners WBNS in Columbus, authorities are currently searching the Dublin/Granville area for the man who's wanted in connection to the murder of Ashland mom Lynn Jackenheimer.

The search for Summerfield kicked into high gear Tuesday night, when a former Marine said she spotted the 27-year-old in the parking lot of her Eastpointe Road apartment complex.

Jackenheimer's body was found by a construction worker in Frisco, N.C, on July 14. On July 17, the medical examiner there ruled the 33-year-old died after being stabbed and strangled.

The witness, who did not want to give her full name, told WBNS she was getting her mail when she looked Summerfield in the eyes. She said he was next to the dumpster "messing with the license plate, which didn't look right."

According to police, Jackenheimer, Summerfield, their 3-year-old son and Jackenheimer’s 13-year-old daughter went to the Outer Banks in North Carolina for vacation over the Fourth of July. On July 8, Summerfield dropped the children off with a family member and hasn't been seen since. Summerfield is said to be driving a dark gray Honda Civic with Ohio license plate FMV 7540.

If it really was Summerfield who the woman saw, she told the Mansfield News Journal he hasn't changed his appearance at all. She said he still has brown hair, is clean shaven, wearing jeans, tennis shoes and a hoodie.

The woman also told the publication that in the Marine Corps, she learned "when people want to hide, they hide in plain sight."

On Tuesday, the U.S. Marshals joined the search for Summerfield. All of Summerfield's information has also been entered into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC), a computerized index that allows law enforcement across the country to access his data.

There is an $8,000 reward for information leading to Summerfield's arrest.
