ASHLAND, Ohio - Social media lit up with reports that the man accused of killing Ashland mother of two Lynn Jackenheimer was arrested. Those reports turned out to be false.
An arrest warrant was issued last week for Nate Summerfield in the murder of his ex-girlfriend. Police said the 27-year-old went on vacation to North Carolina with Jackenheimer, their 3-year-old son and her 13-year-old daughter over the Fourth of July. But Jackenheimer never returned.
NewsChannel5’s Michael Baldwin spoke with the Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office. Dispatcher said they have not arrested Summerfield. Stephanie Ramirez also spoke with Jackenheimer’s foster sister, Jen Tasker, who said police and Lynn’s parents said the report was untrue.
The news was originally reported by NBC 4 in Columbus, who later said a man was arrested after a chase, but it was not the murder suspect.
Jackenheimer’s body was found in a trash bag by a construction worker on July in the Outer Banks and positively identified days later. THe 33-year-old was laid to rest in Ashland on Monday with several family members wearing “Justice for Lynn” shirts.
Summerfield was last seen on July 8 when he dropped off the children with a family member and stopped at an ATM, police said. He is believed to be driving a silver Honda Civic with Ohio license plate FMV 7540.
