ASHLAND, Ohio - The Dare County Sheriff's Office in North Carolina said rainy weather has forced officials to call off the helicopter and cadaver dogs they planned to use while they searched the Outer Banks for 33-year-old Lynn Jackenheimer.

Deputy Chief Steve Hoggard told NewsChannel5 the search will still happen regardless of the weather. Hoggard said four law enforcement agencies along with park services personnel will concentrate on Salvo, North Carolina.

That's where officials said Jackenheimer and Summerfield stayed at a rental property while they vacationed in the state.

Law enforcement will search the residential area and part of Cape Hatteras. Hoggard said it's a huge undisturbed beach area with sand dunes and brush, so crews can only focus on part of it.

The family of  told NewsChannel5 they planned to start searching for the missing Ashland mom in North Carolina around 8 a.m. Thursday morning.

According to Jackenheimer's sister, Lynn Holland, a real estate company has offered to help the family while they search for Lynn.

"The real estate company down there is getting us a house for us to all stay in until at least Saturday and they said if that's not enough time, they'll get us another one," Holland said.

Holland told us the family planned to meet at the same house, then drive to North Carolina together in a few cars. She said police in North Carolina have been very helpful, pointing them in the right direction as far as where to search.

"Sitting here does us nothing except for stuff going through our mind and stuff. I'm hoping when we get down there, one way or another, we have an answer. We have nothing now. We don't have an answer," Holland said.

Meanwhile, police continue to search for Jackenheimer's ex-boyfriend Nate Summerfield.

On Summerfield's facebook page, there are pictures posted from July 2, The pictures show what appears to be Summerfield with two kids at the beach in North Carolina.

Police said more than a week ago, Jackenheimer and Summerfield traveled to Nags Head, North Carolina with two children.

They said Summerfield returned to Ashland with the kids, but Jackenheimer never came back home. Summerfield is missing too. He's a person of interest in the case.
