SULLIVAN, Ohio - An Ashland County middle school student is no longer on campus after a weapon was found in the student's locker Tuesday, school administration says.
Black River Middle School officials were alerted to the situation by a student who told them another showed a BB pistol on the bus.
Law enforcement was contacted and the student’s locker searched.
The school said the BB pistol was found in a backpack in the student’s locker. They then removed the student from class, contacted parents and removed the student from campus.
After investigating, the school has given the student a ten-day suspension and recommended expulsion.
Law enforcement has created a report being sent to the Ashland County Prosecutor’s Office who will determine if charges will be filed.
