CLEVELAND - Happy National Pasta Day! You should celebrate the fact that today is the day that you can get your "pasta on" and not feel bad about it. Ziti, tortillini, spaghetti, linguine, and fettuccine, can all be yours today minus the guilt. Today is your day to proclaim your love of pasta.
Say it loud, "I eat pasta and I'm proud."
The carb-haters can't mess with you today because you get a free pass on national pasta day. It's your day to pay homage to the noodle. And let me tell you there are a lot of varieties of pasta. 350 types of pasta in Italy alone. That's a lotsa pasta!
I read an article that said Americans eat around 20 pounds of pasta per person per year. So I know there are a lot of you out there who are a part of the Pasta Nation. I confess I am a fan of angel hair pasta. Love it with a little marinara sauce with a touch of sugar. And every now and then I get in the mood for some alfredo sauce over my pasta with some Italian sausage on the side.
But hey, you don't have to get fancy with it today. Break out the Oodles of Noodles and celebrate the flavor of pasta that has kept the stomachs of many college students full when the budget is tight. Beef flavor, chicken flavor, and if you want to go high end, there's shrimp flavor.
What's a meatball without spaghetti? Lonely.
So, let's celebrate pasta today. Pasta is good tasting food. It is our duty to eat it and enjoy it today.
Tomorrow, you can jump back on the no carb wagon and roll on back to the gym. Today, pasta rules and I will obey it's every command.
