Their nicknames are Mama, Sugar Bear, Pumpkin, Chubbs, Chickadee and last, but not least, Honey Boo Boo Child. What in the creation is going on? TLC announced this week that they are ordering more episodes of this hit reality show.
That's right. Just when you thought you had had enough, TLC is giving you more "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo."
The show is centered around Alana "Honey Boo Boo Child" Thompson who is a beauty pageant contestant complete with the tiara and a country twang to match. Her family members call themselves Georgia rednecks and the show gives you an up close and too personal view of their lives.
At times, it's hard to understand what they're saying so TLC is kind enough to add subtitles so that the viewer is very clear about the constant confusion that's displayed on the show.
Now, I'm not going to be too harsh on this reality sideshow. I actually think Honey Boo Boo is a cute little 7-year-old with lots of personality. Her mother needs to monitor her intake of junk food a little more, but other than that she is a cute little girl.
But maybe Mama June is too busy doing something else to keep track of Honey Boo Boo's Twinkie intake. The episode I watched, and trust me I could only do 15 minutes of it, Mama was at the salon getting a pedicure. Pedicures are a normal activity that women indulge in, right? Well let me blow your mind for a second. Mama June gets her pedicures with socks on. Yes, I said she gets pedicures with her socks still on her feet. The woman who gave her the pedicure painted little pictures of toenails on her socks with fingernail polish.
What in the boo-boo is going on here?
The reason why Mama June wears socks is because her toe is fungus-infested and she is embarrassed about how bad her toes look. At this point in the program, I looked up at the ceiling and said "Beam me up Scotty." I couldn't believe what I was hearing and seeing. But I'm only one person. Millions of people love this show. It's the network's third highest-rated series this year. There's Long Island Medium, Breaking Amish, and "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" rounding out the cream of the crop.
I will say that their relationships appear real and sincere. You can't script this kind of dysfunctionality. So hold on to your tiara and smile real pretty. Honey Boo Boo is ready to entertain you...again.
